A global approach to treating severe burns with a focus on Europe: Where the research is leading regarding dressings
Lars-Peter Kamolz was born on the 11th March 1972 in Berlin/ Germany. He has studied Medicine at the University of Vienna, Medical School, Vienna, Austria (M.D.). Moreover, he has studied Quality and Process-Management at the Department for Knowledge and Communication Management at Danube University in Krems, Austria (M.Sc.). He is a Board-Certified Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgeon (ÖGPÄRC). In 2012, he became Professor for Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Division of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery, Department of Surgery, Medical University of Graz and Head of the Division of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery, Department of Surgery, Medical University of Graz, Austria. Furthermore, he is the Head of the Research Unit for Safety and Sustainability in Healthcare and Deputy Chief Medical Officer of the LKH-University Hospital in Graz. Since 2018 he is also Director of COREMED – Centre for Regenerative Medicine and Precision Medicine at Joanneum Research Forschungsgesellschaft mbH. Since 2023 he is also Chair of the Department of Surgery, Medical University Graz. He is Editor and Member of the Review Board of several international Journals, Author of more than 280 peer reviewed article, editor of several books and book chapters. He was awarded several times from different scientific organizations for his scientific work.
Advances in burn care the Australian experience
Professor Roy Kimble is Director of Paediatric Surgery, Urology, Burns and Trauma at the Queensland Children’s Hospital. He is also a Professor of paediatrics and child health at The University of Queensland, leading the university’s Centre for Children’s Burns and Trauma Research, an Adjunct Professor at the Queensland University of Technology, and Vice Patron at Kidsafe Queensland. Prof Kimble’s award-winning research focuses on prevention and rehabilitation from traumatic injuries, and the development of new methods in the management of burns.

University. He has practiced Physical Therapy at the Arizona
Burn Center since 2002, and been the Supervisor of Burn
Rehabilitation since 2003. Derek has spoken at multiple
annual Arizona Burn Symposiums, developed burn
rehabilitation material for presentation at the American
Physical Therapy Association’s Combined Sections Meeting
(2012), and presented at the Western Regional Burn
Conference (2013). Derek was a member of the American
Burn Association’s Functional Outcomes Committee in 2012.
The Next Innovations in Burn Care
Stacey graduated from the University of San Francisco as a dual major in Psychology and Sociology. Following, she earned a Master of Science in Nursing with an emphasis on Leadership from Grand Canyon University. Stacey is a Burn Nurse Specialist at the Arizona Burn Center, where she has worked for 10 years. She presented at the American Burn Association annual meeting in 2022 and 2023, serves as an item writer for the CBRN certification, and is a current member of the ABA Nursing Committee.
