Halloween Fire Safety
Halloween is a fun time of year with all the jack-o-lanterns, costumes, and trick-or-treating! But it is important to keep safety in mind in the midst of all the festivities.
- Avoid costumes with long trailing fabric and make sure that any masks have eye holes large enough to see out of.
- Use battery-operated candles in jack-o-lanterns if possible. If you do use real candles, watch children closely and place jack-o-lanterns away from anything that can burn.
- Keep all decorations away from flames or open heat sources. Also, make sure that all exits are clear and not blocked by decorations.
- Check to make sure that all smoke alarms in your home are working. Review your fire escape plan with anyone living in your home.
Happy (safe) trick-or-treating!
