Alexander Garcia, a 23 year old Southern Arizona native, is an electrical fire survivor. Back in March of 2024, Alexander sustained a 56% body burn due to an electrical fire breaking out in his RV home. The fire occurred after plugging a device into an outlet in the home.

After emergency services arrived, Alexander was rushed to Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center before being airlifted to Banner University Medical Center Burn Unit in Tucson, AZ.

Even though the road to recovery is a long one, Arizona Burn Foundation is proud to be a part of Alexander’s journey. After 3 months of inpatient care, and big strides in his recovery, Alexander was discharged from Banner University Medical Center. He continues to receive the ongoing care he needs at the Banner Burn Clinic as well as outpatient laser surgeries. With a great attitude and supportive team behind him, Alexander reports that he recently graduated from physical therapy and is now doing his physical therapy on his own at home.

While Alexander doesn’t remember much about his hospitalization, he does remember his family being there for him- his mother Marie, his father, Mathew, and his brother Julian. Family, friends, and loved one’s support and care is paramount for our clients and something we at the Arizona Burn Foundation value in the highest regard.

Alexander shared that he is slowly reacclimating to his new normal and getting back into the routines of life before the fire. For Alexander, that means getting back into playing video games and social media such as Call of Duty, Minecraft, and TikTok. “It’s hard, but I am learning how to play again.”  Alex mentions that being around his family and visiting his friends have helped him navigate through this new part of his life.
