Camp Courage: Olympics – Go for Gold 2024 – A Journey of Triumph and Transformation

Camp Courage: Olympics – Go for Gold 2024 has drawn to a close, but the memories and impact of this incredible week will resonate for a lifetime. Our young survivors embarked on a journey filled with adventure, self-discovery, and the power of community.

As we reflect on the final days of camp, we’re filled with a sense of pride and gratitude. The bond forged between our campers, staff, and volunteers was truly inspirational, creating a supportive environment where dreams could soar.

The week culminated in a heartwarming closing ceremony, where our new campers received their Camp Sash – a badge of honor symbolizing their courage, growth, and the lifelong friendships they’ve formed. It was a moment that brought tears of joy to many eyes, serving as a reminder of the transformative power of Camp Courage.

One parent, Jessica Y., shared this touching message:

“Hi Tess! It’s Jessica Y., (Shine’s Mom) just texting to say “she made it! We have her!” And I also just wanted to say thank you! Thank you to you, to all people at camp who helped and gave our daughter a wonderful and memorable time. I honestly cannot be more grateful for all your kind hearts. All this seemed so unreal, but as reality set in, it became an event in Shine’s life that she will always remember! I bet you anything, she will be looking forward to next year! I had my doubts about her—as far as being alone, being away from us, the uncertainty of meeting new faces, but you know she proved me so wrong. I am so proud of her! But thank you, thank you! Please share my messages with others. Thank you Camp Courage, Thank you Angel Flight pilots…thank you! God Bless each and every one of you!”

Jessica’s words perfectly encapsulate the transformative power of Camp Courage, where doubts are replaced by confidence, and apprehension gives way to lifelong memories.

This year, we were honored to host 61 campers and Leaders in Training (LITs), including 20 brand new campers and 12 LITs. Each one of them left an indelible mark on our hearts, and we’re already counting down the days until we can reunite next year.

To every camper, staff member, volunteer, and supporter – thank you for making Camp Courage: Olympics – Go for Gold 2024 a resounding success. Together, we’ve created a legacy of resilience, empowerment, and the unbreakable spirit of the Olympic Games.

Until next year, Camp Courage!
