Camp Nurture 2025 Testimonial

Camp Nurture is ABF’s family camp designed for burn survivors ages 0-6 and their family members. This year, ABF hosted 5 families to participate in a unique opportunity to meet other families with young children who sustained a burn injury. Parents took part in a variety of therapeutic sessions over the weekend long camp as well as tried new activities as a family. Sessions included speaking with a licensed therapist to talk through their emotions of being the parent of a child who was injured as well as hearing from other burn survivors’ parents talking about their journey through the healing process. Angie and Eddie are two parents who attended Camp Nurture this year with their children and wrote about their experience at camp:

“We would like to start with thanking the ABF team and express how much we appreciate everyone. You have all became part of our life’s and continue to make sure that we are okay after Alan’s accident. You guys have always included us and made us feel welcome.  Camp Nurture was definitely an amazing time and to be able to interact with other families that are dealing with similar tragedies is just warming to know that we are not alone in this journey and can talk about it and understand each other. This was very therapeutic, and it helped us take in valuable strategies to learn and continue to heal. We would also like to thank Caleb (therapist) for taking the time and listening to our stories! My family and I enjoyed our cabin stay along with all the crafts and activities. ABF thank you all for putting this together and always striving for us.” Angie and Eddie
