November 2024 CEO Corner

We have turned the corner and cooler weather is upon us. (Thank goodness).

Now that we have completed another summer our thoughts turn to outdoor activities as well as the upcoming holiday season.

This time of year, our attention turns to outdoor fireplaces, potentially frying our thanksgiving turkey, Christmas lights and then off course New Year’s Eve Fireworks.

ABF encourages you to remind yourself during all these fun and family friendly activities to pay mindful attention to any children while engaging in these activities. Each year unfortunately we see burn survivors come into our programs during what should be the happiest of times.

While it can be a tragic and stressful situation it is because of your generosity that even at this time of year we are able to support families to keep them together and show them a potential light in their future.

ABF hopes you are able to enjoy the season and I encourage you to make sure you have working smoke alarms and when you start the holiday cooking, keep the children out of the hot zones in the kitchen and then you will be in a good place to have a tremendous family celebration.

Stay safe everyone and I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you soon.
