We are delighted to share that Vanessa Moore, one of ABF’s Burn Care Support Coordinators, has been honored as one of PHOENIX Magazine’s Healthcare Heroes!

Vanessa was recognized for the pivotal role she plays in connecting burn survivors and their families to vital services and resources during times of crisis, recovery and beyond. As part of ABF, she is the only staff member from a private burn foundation based in a burn center, ensuring that families receive the support they need during their most challenging times.

Vanessa played a critical role in providing immediate support to the families of those who were transferred to Arizona from the Hawaii firework tragedy, providing essential emotional support and coordination of lodging as the families navigated the crisis. A patient’s father expressed that Moore’s “immediate contact with information and provisions for lodging as we contemplated logistical hurdles of settling ourselves in Phoenix on short notice after learning of [my son’s] medevac provided the settling foundation that relieved so much mental and emotional baggage.”

With a master’s degree in public health in Health Behavior Health Promotion from the University of Arizona, Moore has a rich history of working in community mental health, substance abuse and developmental disabilities. She is a true health care hero who brings empathy, expertise, and dedication to every aspect of her work.
