“Several years ago, my family was involved in an explosion, and our lives changed in many ways, including a substantial rise in our daily cost of living. As a family member of a burn victim, I felt called to help the victims of the devastating New Year’s Eve fireworks explosion in Hawaii.

This tragic accident has separated parents from their young children, not only due to the duration of their hospital stays but also because of the ocean between them. The families of these patients are now responsible for caring for their children. As a mother, I can think of no greater gift than helping other mothers until they can be reunited with their children.

With my mother-in-law’s help, I designed glass-beaded bracelets, and we spend every Thursday stringing them together.
