Camp Courage 2024: Inspiring Young Burn Survivors to ‘Go for Gold

We are still beaming with pride over the success of Camp Courage! This year’s theme, “Olympics – Go for Gold,” inspired our campers to reach for the stars and strive for excellence in every aspect of their lives. Over 100 dedicated volunteers devoted their time to serving our young burn survivors, aged 6-19, through a variety of outdoor activities, therapeutic programs, and endless fun.

Campers were empowered to find courage on the ropes courses, express themselves through creative artistry, enjoy movies under the stars, and dance the night away. They built friendships, strengthened their courage, and experienced the joy of community.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made Camp Courage possible—our volunteers, donors, supporters, parents, staff, vendors, and especially our campers.

We are also thrilled to congratulate this year’s award winners! Our Camper of the Year is Alessandro, a teenage camper who embodies the spirit of Camp Courage with his kindness, welcoming nature, joyfulness, and service to others. Alessandro’s smile lights up the entire camp!

Our Firefighter of the Year is the incredible Shawn Holcomb, and our Volunteer of the Year is the outstanding Kyla Rolfes. Both Shawn and Kyla have consistently gone above and beyond to live the mission of Camp Courage, ensuring that our campers have a platform to thrive. We are incredibly grateful for their dedication and honored to celebrate their contributions!
