Dear Friends of ABF,
I am incredibly proud of the Arizona Burn Foundation and the work we do. If we’ve ever spoken, you know how enthusiastic I am about our mission.
Every week, I am inspired by our team, volunteers, and partners as they go door-to-door installing smoke alarms in vulnerable communities across Arizona. This work is critical as smoke inhalation causes 25% of fire-related deaths and many residents aren’t aware that when a fire erupts you have two minutes to escape. Working smoke alarms save lives, and we are committed to preventing accidents before they happen.
After a tragic accident in 2024, where a deaf resident in Surprise lost her life in a house fire, we expanded our program to include our Deaf and Hard of Hearing Smoke Alarm program. To date, ABF and partners have installed more than 38,000 standard and specialized smoke alarm systems.
The peace of mind this program provides to Valley residents and the impact it has on our hundreds of volunteers is a highlight of my career. With your support, we will continue to expand our efforts, especially in underserved rural areas of northern and southern Arizona.
I hope the stories in this newsletter and my discussion with KJZZ Public Radio inspire you to join us on a walk or consider a monetary gift to support our program for our less fortunate neighbors.
Warm regards,
Rex Albright
