CEO Corner May 2024

Summer season is approaching very quickly. I am not going to complain because we have had a mild entry into the hot weather so far and we did enjoy a nice cool and wet winter and spring.

But inevitably, we know the heat is coming. But also, summer for ABF means Camp season. And specifically Camp Courage. As we have been preparing for our 34th annual camp that will bring approximately 65 campers and 110 volunteers to Prescott the first week of June, we want to thank you for all you have done in the past several months with your donations to allow this camp to continue.

We have many stories from our previous campers that tell us that this one week of the year is the one week they would look forward to all year long as a burn survivor

child because it truly was the place they could be comfortable with their scars and just have fun.

As a donor, you should all feel a sense of pride that because of your efforts, a child can smile, laugh, and experience new activities they may have never tried before. This will allow them to become confident in their bodies, address any awkward stares, and know that no matter what happens moving forward, they have a family to support them, not only at home but right here at ABF.

As a reminder, I am including the link to our Camp Courage video from 2023 for you to see once again the smiles that you have helped create. As a donor, we encourage you to consider signing up to visit camp on Sponsor Day. This is the last Friday of camp, June 7th. This allows you to come up and see what all the fuss is about with camp. If you are interested in learning more, please reach out and talk to me or one of the team about the specifics.

I will close out this month’s message with a personal plea. We have experienced such a great response from our burn survivors, and we have understood their needs are vast. We are expanding our programs statewide and collaborating with communities throughout Arizona to be willing to host social events that our community can engage in all year round. To serve this need, we are asking if you, your company, or your network of friends can find a way to “Dig Deeper” one more time to serve a child in need, we would deeply appreciate that gift.

Stay safe, everyone, and I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you soon.
