Spring Smoke Alarm Walk Season Recap: Building Safer Communities Across Arizona

This spring, the Arizona Burn Foundation’s Community Smoke Alarm Walk program once again brought communities together across the state with one shared goal: preventing home fire tragedies before they happen.

Thanks to the incredible support of our fire department partners, the American Red Cross, and community volunteers, this season made a life-saving impact across Arizona.

Together, we:

• Installed 866 smoke alarms
• Protected 338 homes
• Empowered 693 residents with home fire safety information
• Mobilized 264 community volunteers

Throughout the season, Arizona Burn Foundation teams worked alongside local fire departments in communities including Marana, Florence, Sun City, Golder Ranch, Peoria, Tempe, Sedona, Surprise, Chandler, and Williams.

This season also highlighted the continued growth and evolution of the program as we work to protect the entire household. In addition to traditional smoke alarms, ABF continued installing specialty three-part alarm systems for Deaf and Hard of Hearing residents in partnership with the Arizona Commission for the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing. And this season, we also launched a new partnership with Rescue Retriever, bringing innovative pet smoke alarms into homes to help firefighters locate pets during house fires.

From families receiving smoke alarms for the very first time to volunteers spending their weekends making a difference, every walk reflected the power of community-driven prevention.
