Supporter Spotlight: Kingman Fire Department & Kingman Firefighter’s Association

Recently, the Kingman Fire Department and Kingman Firefighters Association supported Glenn Jordan’s Pull-Up Challenge through both participation and a $1,500 donation. Their involvement, however, was rooted in a connection that began nearly 40 years ago.

In 1988, while working in radio in Kingman, Glenn broadcast a Thanksgiving morning program from the home of a local family. One of the children he interviewed that day was 10-year-old Brian Knarr.

Fast forward nearly four decades, and Glenn unexpectedly crossed paths with Captain Knarr at a community event. The reunion sparked memories of that Thanksgiving broadcast and ultimately led to the Kingman Fire Department joining the Keep Raising Your Bar Pull-Up Challenge in support of Glenn and the Arizona Burn Foundation.

“The Kingman Fire Department has a culture rooted in family and strong community connections,” said Captain Knarr. “The ties between Glenn, the 1973 BLEVE, and the members of the Kingman Fire Department run deep.

“Glenn’s story is one of inspiration and resilience. When he told me about the fundraiser he was organizing for the Arizona Burn Foundation, there was no question that we wanted to support his efforts to the best of our ability.”

For Captain Knarr and the Kingman Fire Department, supporting burn survivors and prevention programs is part of their commitment to serving the community. For Glenn, it was a reminder that meaningful connections can come full circle, sometimes decades later. Through both his own years living and working in Kingman and his late wife’s roots there, the city has remained close to his heart.

“My connection to Kingman is a very important part of my life and the Firefighters came through with a great effort with very little time to prepare,” said Glenn. “Thank you Kingman Fire Department #22!”
