From the CEO

CEO Corner November 2025

Dear Friends of ABF,

As I reflect on this past year, Ella and Nikki’s time together at IAFF’s International Burn Camp reminds me why our work matters. Two people, brought together by chance—Ella’s accident and Nikki’s passion for helping others—now united through the burn community and the support made possible by you.

Their experience is just one example. Multiply it by hundreds, and you begin to see the true impact of your generosity. Because of you, this year we’ve:

  • Connected with nearly 900 burn survivors and loved ones this past year, meeting them where they were—physically and emotionally.
  • Served more than 600 families with personalized support, including over 400 families newly connected to ABF.
  • Facilitated 5,600+ meaningful interactions—in-person visits, phone calls, and check-ins—each offering guidance and hope during critical moments.
  • Delivered 1,500+ tangible services, such as gas cards, meal vouchers, lodging, and garments.
  • Increased our support to families outside of Maricopa County by 20%.
  • Installed 1,700+ smoke alarms across the state, bringing us to over 39,000 total smoke alarms!

This year has been one of growth and resilience. These successes reflect the power of collaboration and our unwavering commitment to improve the quality of life of burn survivors and their families while promoting burn prevention advocacy and education in Arizona.

But our work isn’t finished. Burn survivors and their families need us now more than ever—and your support is critical. This holiday season, please consider going big for burn survivors. Now through December 31, every gift will be matched up to $15,000 by a generous friend of ABF. That means your donation will have double the impact—and qualify for Arizona’s dollar-for-dollar tax credit.

  • Single filers: Give up to $495
  • Joint filers: Give up to $987
  • QCO Code: 20667 (No itemization required)

Together, we can build a stronger, more connected future for burn survivors and their families.

Thank you for being an essential part of this journey. Your trust and engagement inspire us every day.

With gratitude,

Rex Albright
